Project Title: Advancing Brain Health and Mental Health Advocacy

Project Overview:

As a consultant for Sigmend Open Labs, I focused on their vision of creating a world where individuals with brain conditions could live openly, empowered by hope and necessary resources for prioritizing their mental health. Open Labs specialized in developing Mental Health Friendly Workplaces, promoting Brain Health, and engaging in Mental Health Advocacy.

 

Social Impact Project Goals:

1. Nonprofit State Incorporation:

   • I successfully assisted Open Labs in establishing itself as a recognized nonprofit organization, which improved visibility, support, and funding opportunities. This incorporation allowed Open Labs to effectively serve its mission and connect with individuals and communities in need.

2. Development of Operational Policies and Procedures:

   • I helped create comprehensive operational policies and procedures that ensured efficient and effective organizational management, laying a strong foundation for Open Labs’ initiatives and sustainable service delivery.

3. Board of Directors Advisement:

   • I supported the assembly of a knowledgeable and diverse Board of Directors to guide Open Labs' strategic direction. This board included individuals with expertise in mental health, nonprofit management, and advocacy, thus ensuring effective governance and accountability.
      

Outcomes:

1. Increased Awareness:

   • The project heightened awareness of the importance of mental health and brain health within workplaces and communities, paving the way for stronger advocacy and education on these critical issues.

2. Development of Mental Health Friendly Workplaces:

   • I assisted in implementing training and resources that helped organizations create supportive work environments where mental health was prioritized, benefiting both employees and employers.

3. Strategic Partnerships:

   • I fostered strategic partnerships with other mental health organizations, corporations, and community groups to broaden the impact of Open Labs’ initiatives and share resources effectively.

 

Conclusion:

By focusing on key initiatives such as nonprofit incorporation, operational development, board advisement, Open Labs successfully developed and operated as a nonprofit for many years.
